The Education and Outreach Programs of Connecticut Opera
For over 30 years, Opera Express has traveled to schools, theaters, libraries,
assisted living facilities, and other public places to bring the magic of opera
to young and old alike. Our specially-designed programs provide an engaging and
enjoyable introduction to opera for everyone from elementary school children
to senior citizens. Programs vary in length from 30 to 45 minutes, and are sure
to provide an audience-friendly experience with this unique art form.

Opera Express Programs for Elementary School Children
Little Red Riding Hood
Back by popular demand! Seymour Barab’s clever adaptation of the traditional
Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale has delighted audiences throughout New
England. The familiar story features an original score.

The Music Shop
“I’ll know it when I hear it!” is the plea from a husband
who has forogtten the title of a song his bossy wife ordered him to find.
The staff of “the music shop” (the largest music store in Russia)
tries to jog his memory by singing highlights from well-known operas and Russian
folk tunes as his concentration is interrupted by visions of his wife.
